volunteer for a big event
Done!

Last week, I volunteered for the Penang International Bridge Marathon. Important thing to note though – I was a volunteer, not a volunteers.

The starting point was at Queensbay mall. We reached there before 10pm cos our briefing was supposed to be at 10pm. hehe.

Briefing! I think her name’s Peggy. We chose to be in the “cleaning team”, and our job was basically to pick up rubbish. Cleaning engineers! sorry, syiok sendiri. After doing a first sweep of the grounds, there wasn’t much to do. So we wandered around and saw…

PBSM!

And SJAM!

Place where the runners were supposed to relax after their run. But not many people ended up there anyway. Wasted.

Full marathon guys warming up!

The finish line for the half & quarter marathon participants.

Lion dances! Actually they supposedly performing evertime before the gun went off, but tak jadi in the end. Eerrr…no comment. Then since we were very bored, we checked out the other entertainments!

Fire dancers

Tanjung Bungah Hotel singers. Most of the time they were being syiok sendiri on the stage, because the only ones there to watch them perform were the volunteers! Everyone else was running, or about to run. But they were really giving it their all. Good job!

Face painter in action! Teeheehee. I’m a face painter too you see.
Tumpang glemer!

The moon was really beautiful that night. So we slept on the grass outside Queensbay Mall for about half an hour before resuming our work after the half marathon ladies went off. Hehe. You won’t believe how many banana skins I picked up!

My favourite banner of the night.

Really good breakfast! <3
Anyway, volunteering for PBIM wasn’t what I expected it to be. It was fun, but I kinda expected to have a clearer picture about what I was supposed to do. But for most of the night I felt like I was being told to go “there!” but once we got “there” we were blur and they were blur too! So we just simply did whatever was “there”.
And I did want that “Exclusive Penang Bridge International Marathon volunteer t-shirt”! Which was green. But we got the white shirt. Which was the same as the half marathon participants. Hmph. I know, volunteering is not supposed to be about what you can get but about what you can contribute. But false advertistment, I don’t like. Oh well.
I might be running next year!
you really have got so much going there!!
all i do here is sleep, wake up, cook, go to work, watch youtube, go sleep..same cycle next day..hehehehe…boring..
eh, currency down a bit..find time to come here! i wont be back til end of next yr…sob
thanks for your volunteering. do you know
